(Moved to Fri 9/13) Dinner in Mexico: Oaxacan Summer Nights
NOTE: This class has moved to Fri 9/13. Please visit that date on the calendar to register.
Join us as we journey south of the border and enjoy an lovely evening of exquisite Mexican food from the city of Oaxaca – the birthplace of Mole.
Located in southern Mexico, this gorgeous city is one of Mexico’s major gastro-historical centers and boasts cuisine that is well-known around the world. Few other regions can claim such a profound and long-lasting indigenous influence on their regional cuisine.
Our own CCKC Executive Chef Jill Garcia Schmidt will lead you on a culinary journey as she teaches you to prepare a fantastic meal featuring some of their iconic dishes. She’ll lead off with Smokey Guacamole, an Oaxaca-Style appetizer, followed by a crisp Avocado, Watercress and Pecan Salad.
Tonight’s star of the show will be one of Chef Jill’s all-time favorites - Mole Verde with Chicken served with Oaxacan Black Beans and Rice on the side. Finally, you’ll help prepare Natilla, a classic creamy custard with fresh summer berries for a sweet end our Latin feast.
You’ll get to work in small groups next to Chef Jill and help with some of the cooking activities too, and then gather around the table with new friends to enjoy the fabulous meal you’ve helped prepare.
