Crazy Good Weekday Lessons With Chef Jill: Baking Fundamentals For The Home Cook
Join us for another installment of Crazy Good Weekday Lessons with CCKC Executive Chef Jill Garcia Schmidt. Today, it’s learning baking fundamentals that you can use to up your game in that area.
Chef Jill is a kick-butt culinary instructor and her teaching style is super easy-to-understand and sprinkled with humor. She’s just a little bit passionate about teaching folks to cooks (try a LOT)!
In this special 4-hour class, you’ll learn basic baking principles, techniques, equipment usage, key ingredients like flour, butter and leavening agents and more all as you participate in mixing, kneading, shaping and baking and create delicious baked goods. Along the way, she’ll emphasize the importance of accuracy in measuring and introduce the professional chef’s best friend - “mise en place”.
We’ll put all these rules, tips and techniques to work as we don our aprons and get our hands in the flour and work next to Chef Jill to prepare goodies like homemade scones, flatbreads, pastry dough and her famous cinnamon rolls, all with variations for your home baking. Boom!
