Once June hits, the summer activities are well under way, and the sooner you register for this BRAND NEW interactive 3-day cooking series, the sooner you’ll be able to relax knowing you will be well educated and have fun on this culinary trip around the globe this week!

Instructor, Susy Lara, has designed a summer cooking camp where your Junior Chefs (ages 9-14) can travel the globe each day (figuratively speaking, of course) as they learn to cook recipes from 3 different areas of the world, including the USA. They’ll also learn basic cooking techniques and fundamentals like knife skills (no TSA checks here!), measuring, mixing, and more.

And, here’s the bonus… they will have the recipes and the know how to DO THIS AGAIN at home!  Whoa… you say?  Well, relax because it’s true.  I’d sign up for this global ‘tour’, and if I were you I would do it soon because this one will fill quicker than it takes for your kids to go through your summer snack box at home!

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Day 1:   The Mexican Cocina
Our global culinary journey begins south-of-the-border.....because what kid doesn’t love Mexican food, right?  We’ll travel into the spicy world of Mexican cuisine like homemade Tortilla Chips & Garden-fresh Salsa, Green Tomatillo Seared Pork Stew, Cilantro Lime Rice (soooo good!), and fried Buñuelos, a sweet Mexican dessert topped with vanilla ice cream. Ole!

Day 2: Southern Cuisine
On our third leg of this trip through the kitchens of the world, we’ll head back to the USA, and enjoy a stop in the south as Susy teaches you how to make down-home recipes like Barbecue Chicken (with homemade BBQ Sauce!), Mashed Potatoes with Gravy, fresh-made Cornbread, and a bubbly Peach Cobbler. Mmmmm... Mmmm... Good!

Day 3: Mama Mia! Let’s Cook Italian!
On our second day, the kids will build on their cooking skills as they learn how to make Italian classic dishes like a classic Caesar Salad with homemade croutons and dressing, comforting Ricotta stuffed Seashell Pasta dish, and end with a kid-friendly Cannoli, for dessert. Mangia!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CLASS:
We Require A Waiver Signed By Parent/Legal Guardian:  Prior to admittance to this class, we require a waiver to be signed by a parent or legal guardian.   This waiver requests a phone number where you can be reached during the class if necessary and names of any additional people who are authorized to pick up the child after class.  We encourage you to print off a copy of this Waiver, sign it and either 1) scan and email it to lori@kcculinary.com or 2) bring/send it to class with your student.  Without an appropriately signed Waiver your child will not be allowed to attend class.  We are sorry but we cannot make any exceptions to this rule.  If someone other than the parent drops off your child, they will need evidence that they have the legal authority to sign a Waiver on behalf of your child at that time.  [Click here to download the Waiver]

What To Wear To Class:  For safety reasons, we also recommend that students wear close-toed shoes, long pants and have long hair pulled back.

If Your Child Plans To Attend Class With Someone Else, please add their name(s) to the ‘Comments’ section of your online registration so that we can seat you together; otherwise we cannot ensure that you will be seated together for the class. If you register for multiple students at one time, that registration will prompt you to supply the names of all students you are registering and we will know to seat you together.

Only Registered Students Will Be Allowed In The Classroom During Class:  This is so your child will have the best possible experience and the instructors have their full attention.  Parents should plan to pick up their students at the end of the advertised hours for their class.

Important Information Regarding Children With Special Needs:  Our cooking instructors are skilled in teaching culinary education at an age appropriate level.  Several of our instructors even have early childhood and teaching background and certification.  However, we are not equipped to work with, nor are these classes designed for, children who may have special needs, issues with focus, or difficulty with sitting still to listen and concentrate on the instructor or issues with relating to other students in a classroom setting.  When we encounter a student who requires significant special attention, the experience for the other students suffers.  While our class and cooking camps are well staffed, we just don’t have the staff to be able to allocate someone to work directly with your child for the entire class.  Should we identify a situation where we believe a student falls within one or more of these categories, we will be contacting you to pick up your students.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to issue a refund for all or any part of the class or camp fees.   Please feel free to call us to discuss any questions or concerns that you feel should be discussed in advance of your child’s class.  Please be aware of our 5-day cancellation policy.

Junior Chefs in the Kitchen™, Junior Chefs Academy™, Li’l Kids In The Kitchen™, Tiny Tots In The Kitchen™, Professional Culinary Arts Classes & Series™ and Pro Classes™ are trademarks and service marks of The Culinary Center of Kansas City®.

If you plan to attend this class with another party who signed up separately, please add their name(s) to the COMMENTS section of your online registration so that we can seat you together; otherwise we cannot ensure that you will be seated together for the class. If you register for multiple students at one time, that registration will prompt you to supply the names of all students you are registering and we will know to seat you together.  Thank you!
