Dinner in Havana

Cuban cuisine is overflowing with an enormous array of foods and regional flavors that tell the history of this beautiful country’s diverse history. Tonight we’ll dine in the capital city of Havana, the heart of Cuba. 

CCKC culinary instructor Chef Dana Holland has traveled the world as he followed his passion to discover and learn about ethnic foods and, in the process, fell in love with cooking because of the universal importance that food has on people and cultures.

Tonight, he’ll take you with him as you explore the fresh ingredients of this interesting city and turn them into fabulous culinary works of art for a Havana-inspired meal.  Chef will share stories of his global travels as he shows off his impressive cooking skills and teaches a variety of local recipes that will showcase Cuban foods that blend the many influences like Spanish, African, and Caribbean and more.

We’ll begin by sipping on a classic Cuban cocktail, then dive right into our cooking lesson and learn to prepare some fabulous regional dishes like Cuban Black Bean Soup, Roasted Mushroom Salsa (yes, it’s a thing), Lechon Asado (Cuban Pork Roast), Fried Plantains, an interesting Cuban Coffee Flan for dessert, and much more.
 

Along the way, you’ll get to tie on an apron and get in on some of the cooking activities next to this engaging professional.  No passport required for this flavorful Cuban excursion.
