Latin Cuisine: The Sexy, Soulful Foods of Latin America

Latin food is one of the sexiest cuisines on the planet. There, we said it. Tonight’s chef instructor, Dana Holland, has tons of experience cooking this spicy cuisine and is eager to show you why he’s so passionate about it.

Chef Dana was the owner/chef of two “gone, but not forgotten” St. Louis restaurants, Babalu’s and Babalu’s Snack Shack that were favorites among the local glitterati and the hoi polloi alike.   So, he’s no slouch when it comes to cooking Latin cuisine.  Chef brings his extensive culinary acumen and interesting stories of his travels around the world, including many stops south-of-the-border, and can’t wait to lay some of that knowledge on you about this expansive cuisine.

He’ll get this soulful cooking party started as you enjoy Shrimp Salpicon with Tostones appetizers while sipping on a Pineapple Mojitos. (Chef Dana learned this drink from a bartender in, of all places, Sorrento, Italy. Who knew?)

Then, you’ll get a little cooking time alongside this engaging professional as you learn (and taste) a few of Chef’s favorite dishes like Fish Escabeche and Picadillo, uber popular throughout Latin America.  You’ll also learn beautiful sides like Moros y Christianos, Escalivada and Orange Coffee Flan for dessert.

He’ll also throw in a few pointers on how and where to shop for the best ingredients so you can recreate these tasty gems at home.  And, that’s not all....Chef Dana will send you home with a special gift to remember our special meal.
