Cakes that Stand the Test of Time!
Much like the little black dress, the classic cake (in all its various shapes and forms) will never go out of style! With all the quick mixes on the shelves, some may believe that the days of crafting a classic cake are lost. Not so, we say! And, we can prove it (Hello, we ARE a culinary center)!
We’ll take you back to the time when flour was sifted, fresh eggs were cracked (Remember, add one at a time!) and you never bumped the counter (no one wants their cake falling, right?!)
This morning, you’ll take away key culinary baking principles of cake making as experienced culinary instructor Mari Ruck shows you how to make two classic cakes – a moist and delicious Carrot Cake and “The Best Ever” Devil’s Food Cake. Plus, lessons on making the perfect basic buttercream frosting, followed by icing techniques that will turn ho-hum cakes into masterpieces. She’ll even tell you how to resurrect a cake flop and serve it up with pride!
