Get your hands in the dough with the “McCool-est” culinary instructor, Paul McCool, who will lead you through this 5-hour workshop.  

During this interactive class you’ll learn how to make two amazing bread recipes, plus, Paul will teach much about the essential ingredients in bread making: flours, salt, sugars and, of course… yeast. Paul knows a LOT about the science of breads, so you’re in for a real treat!

You’ll learn how to ferment the right way, and the proper steps to kneading, shaping and baking your breads. It’s a LOT to take in but we’ll have all day to take it step by step, without feeling rushed or anxious. What a luxury to have this kind of time with such a pro!

Our first bread is Babka, a classic “looks-complicated-but-really isn’t” Old World bread.  You will make a chocolate version in class and practice shaping techniques and—bonus!—you’ll also get tips to adapt this versatile bread for other flavor combinations....then you'll bake it during class. 

For our second bread, you’ll learn to make Sweet Vanilla Challah bread, rich and eggy, and as beautiful to see as it is to eat. You can practice making a turban, a round braid, a stacked braid, and other shapes with this lovely dough Then, you’ll take the dough home to add the filing, shape and bake for your family or friends to enjoy with you.

Note: If you live more than a 30-45 minute drive from CCKC, bring a small cooler with you to carry your dough home without it over-fermenting.
