Classic Comfort Food: Pot Pie, Meat Pie, Sweet Pie… Oh My!
This fundamentals class will springboard your cooking to new heights as you learn all about sweet & savory pies. Experienced culinary instructor Chef Dana Holland is a whiz in the kitchen and will lead this informative class as you enter the world of comfort food pies. He'll begin by talking all about the proteins involved, like chicken and beef.
Then he’ll show you how to properly break down a whole chicken - an essential culinary skill that is invaluable to any home cook. You’ll even learn how to create a buttery crust… from scratch! Once learned, the sky’s the limit on what you can do with this recipe. The fillings are versatile too!
You'll learn loads of basic culinary skills like knife skills, chopping, whisking and more as you help him prepare a creamy vegetable filling, chicken filling and more. Of course, we need something sweet to end our class, so you’ll also learn a scrumptious Chocolate Chip Hand Pie – so good!
You’ll get plenty of hands-on cooking time as you don an apron and work next to this interesting chef to help prepare some of today’s dishes. Of course, there will be tastings, and you’ll go home with the recipes so you can re-create these comfort food gems at home. A great class!
