Making Perfect Cakes - Baking Fundamentals with Chef Jill Garcia Schmidt

Forget about those mixes in a box and frosting in a can! Who needs ‘em.  After this informative 3-hour class, you’ll never open a boxed cake mix again! With all the quick mixes on the shelves, some may believe that the days of crafting a classic cake are lost.  Not so we say! And we can prove it (hello we ARE a culinary center)!

Our own CCKC Executive Chef Jill Garcia Schmidt is a kick-butt chef (and the ultimate cake lover!) and today, she takes us back to the time when flour was sifted, fresh eggs were cracked (add one at a time remember) and you never bumped the counter (no one wants their cake falling right?!) You’ll take away key culinary baking principles of cake making and creating delicious frostings and glazes.  We’ll even show you how to resurrect a cake flop and serve it up with pride!  

Chef Jill will teach several types of cakes – layer, sheet and bundt, along with exploring basic culinary techniques for making great cakes every time!
