Bread-Making Fun with Chef Jill: Fabulous Focaccia, Challah & Pita Breads
Here’s a bread-basics class that will teach you to make Focaccia, Challah and Pita breads from scratch.
This interesting 3-hour class is taught by none other than our own Chef Jill Garcia Schmidt. She’s a talented chef with many years of cooking and baking experience, so you’re in for a real treat while learning from a pro. Plus, she's loads of fun!
Chef Jill will focus on teaching essential baking techniques as she shares her tips and secrets to create beautiful doughs that can be easily reproduced in your own kitchen.
We’ll start our class by focusing on Focaccia Bread, an extremely versatile Italian flatbread slathered with olive oil and sprinkled with salt. Rosemary sprigs and other herbs are sometimes tucked into the bread dough for flavor and eye appeal. It’s a killer accompaniment to entrees, a luscious appetizer when dipped into flavored olive oil and a beautiful and easy appetizer that begs for interesting toppings. It’s a blank canvas of dough waiting for your touch.
Next up, a lovely Challah bread, rich and eggy, and as beautiful to see as it is to eat. She’ll teach you how to make this sweet dough into a turban, a round braid, a stacked braid and other shapes. Then, you’ll take some dough home to add the filing, shape and bake for your family or friends to enjoy with you.
Finally, you’ll learn to make pita bread that’s cooked to fluffy perfection and then a little magic as you turn it into homemade pita chips, an addiction you don’t have to feel guilty about. Yum!
Chef Jill will lead you in some hands-on practice during class, as well.
