Yup!  We'll be sharing the same amazing culinary education you'd get if your backside were in a seat in our kitchens, except you can be in your jammies (we won't judge!).  Take notes.  Ask questions and have the instructor answer them LIVE!  Take your skills in the kitchen up a tasty notch.  We promise it'll feel a whole lot like you're here AND you'll be practicing safe social-distancing (See what we did there?) Class Description: 

This online class is designed and taught at the level that is appropriate for a Junior Chef aged 9-14 years of age. These young cooks will fall in love with this super FUN online baking camp.

Our CCKC Chefs will lead young chefs through the wonderful world of baking fundamentals as they learn all the ins and outs of making homemade cookies, scones and yummy quick breads.  Our Chefs have loads of baking experience and can’t wait to share their tips and secrets with budding chefs.   

You’ll explore a multitude of culinary techniques, including the importance of accurate measurements; proper equipment usage; oven and baking instructions; knife skills and safety; kitchen terminology, and other basic skills. You’ll also be introduced to the professional chef’s best friend - “mise en place”. 

The Camp will be held online on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but the kids will be given “homework” (don’t worry kids…it’s FUN homework!) and on Tuesday and Thursday when they are practicing their baking skills they've learned in class, our chefs will be available to the kids for questions and comments. See what we did there? We are giving the kids reason to “practice” what they learn on the days when the class is not actually held online.   

Shopping lists and recipes will be sent to students  no later than 5 days before each class so they can make sure they have ingredients in the house, if desired. If they choose, the kids can ‘cook along’ with our chef instructors. This will mean the kids will actually be smelling and tasting the goodies they whip up in class.  It’s the next best thing to being right in our kitchens… promise!

DAY 1: Cookie-Palooza!  Making beautiful cookies is an art!  On our first day of camp, we’ll learn baking techniques like measuring, mixing methods, oven temps and more, when we prepare a versatile Basic Sugar Cookie recipe. We will then learn how to create various types of cookies from this one dough.  The kids learn how to customize their cookies.  The kids will even learn the proper way to ice their cookies, as well as a great recipe for quick icing.   

Day 2 – Breakfast Scones Mania!   In our second class, we’ll explore how to make the ever-popular scone. And guess what?  This dough can also be used to make Biscuits too! Imagine the possibilities from one dough! You’ll learn a terrific basic scones recipe along with special techniques like how to handle the dough just right and how to customize your own scone dough.

Day 3 -  Super Duper “Quick” Breads On our 3rd day, the kids will learn how to create sensational “quick breads.”  They learn what in the heck a “quick bread” really is!  And they will learn how to make various varieties including a Cinnamon Crumb Cake-Style Quick Bread and a Bacon Cheese Quick Bread. What? That sounds awesome. These beauties come together in a snap and are super tasty!
