The Vegan Kitchen with Chef Gary Hild
Vegans choose this lifestyle for a variety of reasons, ranging from health reasons (one health consideration being that vegan diets are free of cholesterol and are generally low in fat) and environmental and ethical concerns.
Generally, a vegan is a vegetarian (no meat, fish or poultry) who also does not use other animal products or by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, etc. Those who are vegan know that the key to a nutritionally sound vegan diet is variety and lots of protein sources, including plenty of fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, whole grain products, nuts, seeds and legumes.
Get ready to learn lots of great tips and recipes from a consummate culinary professional, Chef Gary Hild, who is dedicated to teaching students how to cook, eat and live better. He’s a firm believer that plant-based cooking is nothing short of culinary medicine. Trust me, he walks the walk!
In addition to being an excellent chef and engaging instructor, Chef Gary is dedicated to healthy living and an active lifestyle, so he has much to “bring to the table” in this informative class.
Tonight, he’ll focus on teaching you how to prepare a variety of interesting vegan dishes. You’ll learn sure-fire ways to incorporate the right foods to easily keep yourself on track in your quest for a long-lasting vegan diet. Eating in restaurants will be discussed, recipes, cooking methods, storage solutions, make-ahead meals and more.
You’ll learn a Beet Salad, Roasted Barley Salad, a nutritious Roasted Vegetable Stock that is used as the base for many recipes in the vegan diet, and Cream of Broccoli Soup.
If you’re serious about (or just exploring) a vegan diet, this is definitely the right class for you.
