Down on the Bayou-Creole Classics featuring Shrimp Etouffe, Gumbo & More with Chef LaDonna Johnson
Brimming with tradition, culture and flavor, Cajun and Creole cooking is best known by the dishes found in the south. Tonight, experienced culinary instructor and Chef LaDonna Johnson takes us down-home on the bayou with a rich, satisfying dinner menu featuring classic southern recipes like Gumbo, Shrimp Etouffee and more.
Chef LaDonna is passionate about teaching folks to cook and one of her specialties is southern cuisine, so you’re in for a special treat tonight. Throughout class, she will teach essential culinary techniques, including basic knife skills, sauce-making, how to use traditional Cajun seasonings to their fullest, mastering a roux and much more.
Of course, you’ll taste everything as Chef LaDonna works her way through tonight's fabulous southern menu that includes Cajun classics like Shrimp Etouffee, a savory Gumbo and a fabulous southern dessert that's sooo good! You’ll get to help with some of the cooking activities, and you'll leave with the recipes so you can re-create these gems at home. Ayee!

NOTE: For Onsite Classes, when you arrive, please check in with our Class Assistant who will give you information as to where you will be seated. We will be arranging our classrooms to allow for social distancing. In order to comply with governmental orders and for the protection of our guests and staff, we ask that you wear a mask when here at The Culinary Center of Kansas City. If you are planning to sit next to someone else attending the class, we would suggest arriving at least 20 minutes prior to the start time of the class so that we can address that request.
