The Authentic Mexican Cocina

Grab your friends or your favorite senor or senorita and join Chef and Lead Instructor Jill Garcia Schmidt as she teaches you how to create delicious Mexican cuisine that’s easy enough to recreate in your own cocina! 

Chef Jill is one of our most popular instructors with an infectious personality and easy-to-understand teaching style.  She is eager to share her passion for Mexican dishes as you work next to her while she dazzles you with her cooking skills. Chef Jill will teach essential culinary techniques like basic knife skills, sauce-making and more while showing you how to create a fabulous Mexican feast.

She’ll start off with a creamy Tomatillo Guacamole and Homemade Tortilla Strips; followed up by Pica-Pico Tacos (soft tortillas filled with Chef Jill’s original Picadillo mix), topped with fresh Pico de Gallo and other authentic toppings.

Next, you’ll learn to make Easy Fideo (Mexican vermicelli in light tomato sauce) and a yummy bean dish - made with beer. You heard me.  Finally, we’ll complete our meal on a sweet note with Chef Jill’s favorite Apple Pecan Dulce de Leche Empanadas.

NOTE:  Unless otherwise noted, each evening class fee includes one glass of beer/wine, with additional beverages available at a nominal cost.

In this regard our protocols may change from day to day and we ask for your patience as we maneuver this not-so-delicious time.  We have limited enrollment in our classes in order to provide for appropriate social distancing so it is important that you let us know at the time of registration whether you will be sitting next to someone else attending the class. You can note this in the “comments” section when you register online, or you can call us with this information at 913-341-4455.  In this case, we will assume that you and the other person(s) are comfortable sitting next to each other.
