It’s Thanksgiving week and THIS Thursday you’ll be sitting down to the most celebrated repast of the year. How about offering to make the desserts? Or maybe just have an extra pie you can leave at home for your side of the family to devour?

At the end of this class, you will have a ready-to-bake pie crust, plus the custard filling to pour into that crust, as well as the extra bits of dough to make cinnamon sugar pie crust “cookies”.  Yes, that’s what I said.

Tonight, experienced instructor, Laura Thomsen (a/k/a Elle T) will begin our lesson by teaching you fundamental techniques to make a perfect “no-fail” pie dough that is so simple, it will quickly become your “go-to” pie crust recipe! Then, you’ll don an apron and get hands-on practice as you learn the secrets to rolling out your dough to ensure a light and flaky crust every time.

Next, we’ll also cover pie fillings, well-balanced spices, and more as we explore the variations of Pumpkin, Sweet Potato and Winter Squash as pie fillings. That’s right! We will be starting with a fresh pumpkin. Don’t be scared … it’s really easier than you think!

We’ll discover variations on the classic pumpkin pie and learn some creative ways to decorate and top these babies. How about some tips on making it gluten-free.  We've got you covered!

As if all this weren't enough, Elle T. will share her favorite Black Walnut Pie recipe for all you black walnut lovers in this world!  In addition, we’ll discuss flavoring whipped cream, freezing and storage, and serving options.
