Junior Chefs (9-14): A ‘Black Friday’ Holiday Cookie Decorating Party For Kids!

The holidays just aren’t complete without a fun decorating party where everyone makes decorated holiday treats to take home and show off.  So, let’s kick off the holiday season the right way...with a special cookie decorating workshop that will cover real-deal and useful cookie baking and decorating techniques and tips that will have you making your own colorful holiday cookies like a pro, in no time. 

We invite all budding chefs (ages 9-14) to experience this fun and interactive old-fashioned, holiday festivity.  Our Head Cookie Elf Vicky Lara is an experienced culinary instructor and cookie decorating expert, so you’re sure to learn a lot.

It will be an informative morning as kids explore the fundamentals of cookie dough handling, cutting, baking, and decorating.  We’ll have the dough ready to roll.  (Don’t worry you’ll get the recipe.) The kids will tie on an apron and get in on the hands-on fun as they follow along while she teaches tips and techniques for rolling, cutting, how to use cookie cutters, baking and of course decorating.

While the cookies are baking and cooling, Vicky will teach them how to work with pastry bags, decorating tips, how to make and work with glaze and buttercream icings, proper method for coloring icing and glaze, as she gets your imagination flowing.  Then, you’ll get some frosting to start with and it’ll be up to you to make it your own.

You’ll step right into the decorating details as you practice what you’ve learned and work on colorful holiday designs, step-by-step.  Lots of valuable hands-on experience as Vicky shows you how to use these techniques to transform a plain cookie into some of her favorite holiday designs.  Of course, she’ll have some sample cookies decorated to show you how all of this is done. 

We’ll have holiday music, hot cocoa, and munchies available, too!  At the end of this class, we’ll send you home with your sweet holiday cookie creations in a baker’s box, all ready to show off  …and to EAT of course!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CLASS: 

• Mask Policy.  We are committed to providing the highest degree of safety for our guests including compliance with all applicable governmental orders.  At this time, if you or your child are fully vaccinated, we do not require that masks be worn when attending a class. 
  
  
• Let us know if you want to sit near someone else attending the class.  Let us know at the time of registration (in the ‘comments’ section of your registration) whether you would like to sit near someone else attending the class..  You could also call us with this information at 913-341-4455
  
  
• For kids ages 9-18 attending this class, we require A Waiver signed by parent/legal guardian prior to admittance to this class:  [Click here to download the Waiver]   Note that the Waiver requires that you provide  (1) a phone number where you can be reached during the class if necessary and (2) name(s) of any additional people who are authorized to pick up the child after class.  We encourage you to print off a copy of this Waiver, sign it and either 1) scan and email it to heather@kcculinary.com or 2) bring it to class with your student.  Without an appropriately signed Waiver your child will not be allowed to attend class.  We are sorry but we cannot make any exceptions to this rule.  Also note that If someone other than the parent signs a Waiver, they will need a legal document to be presented that shows without question that they have the legal authority to sign a Waiver on behalf of your child at that time.
  
  
  
• Only registered students allowed in the classroom during class.  While we love those parents/grand-parents, aunts & uncles, they will not be allowed to attend ‘just to watch their child’ without registering for the class.  You are welcome to enjoy our Kitchen Shop Experience while your child, age 9 and up, is attending.
