La Paella! The Ultimate Spanish Party Dish!

Class Description: 

Join our own Chef & Lead Instructor, Jill Garcia Schmidt, in the kitchen and learn how to make that centuries old Spanish dish known as Paella.  Once you learn the tricks, you’ll be creating your own version of this wonderful one-dish meal that is as perfect for weeknight meals as it is for entertaining!

Chef Jill is one of our most popular instructors, with a lot of culinary experience under her toque – and even more infectious personality.  You’re gonna love learning to cook with Chef Jill.  Promise.

We’ll start our cooking party with some little tapas because, well, we’re in Spain tonight, right? Then, the cooking lesson begin as Chef Jill dazzles you with her teaching skills while demonstrating how to make the perfect Seafood Paella.  The secret is aromatic mixtures of rice, protein, and spices which add the “flare” to Spanish dishes like Paella.

It’s step -by-step through the process of creating this fabulous party dish, starting with Sofrito, a sautéed mixture of onions, peppers, garlic and tomato that add so much flavor to this incredible dish.  We’ll learn how to make Paella’s unmistakable saffron-scented rice and how to develop layers of flavor to take this dish into the realm of “oh-my-gosh” goodness.   Plus, you’ll get in on some of the cooking fun, too! And, yes, of course, you’ll taste tonight's festive dishes! How could we not?

NOTE:  Unless otherwise noted, each evening class fee includes one glass of beer/wine, with additional beverages available at a nominal cost.
