Menus & Music! An Evening Of Food, Wine & Music With ‘Johnny Murphini’

Class Description: 

It’s time to bring back our popular Menus & Music celebrations! Normally we choose a musical genre, hire musicians and then our chefs design a menu that echoes the genre. But for tonight, who would have guessed that both the music AND the menu would originate with one talented person?  Well…we did!

Our pal John Murphy (aka Johnny Murphini) has been in our kitchens over the years both as a musician playing at our popular 3rd Friday live music events or as a volunteer with our Pete’s Garden project to feed KC’s food insecure. You may know him through his Facebook food postings and musical performances which are themselves rare combinations of “Menus & Music!”  John (ahem, ‘Johnny’) creates a party wherever he brings his guitar and on-stage personality and carries his audience on a sing-a-long journey of everyone’s favorites such as Brown-Eyed Girl, American Pie and Sweet Caroline. 

We know also that he ain’t too shabby in the kitchen!  Tonight he’ll be leaping back and forth between entertaining our ears and our inner chefs as he shows us how to create some of his favorite dishes.

John will be at the helm in our kitchen as we execute one of Johnny’s’ favorite Italian menus featuring a tasty appetizer he had on a trip to Italy, a salad inspired by an Italian restaurant he worked at in High School, a Risotto Milanese paired with a roasted salmon that alone would make your heart sing as well as an Italian braised dish that will be served with a very special Italian wine.    Dessert will be one of his favorites that he helped us prepare on one of his volunteer days.

If that is not enough entertainment for you, then hold on to your hats because we will have a seasoned wine connoisseur who will pair killer Italian wines with each course and provide wine education to boot. 

Great wine, excellent food, satisfying live entertainment!  Who could ask for more?  Register early for this special appearance by the "not-shy" Johnny Murphini. We’re certain there will be applause and requests for encores.

NOTE:  Unless otherwise noted, each evening class fee includes one glass of beer/wine, with additional beverages available at a nominal cost.
