Join us for a culinary journey to the deep south with an accomplished chef who has a long, rich history of cooking southern food.
Richard McPeake (a professional chef for 30+ years and a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America) has tricks up his sleeve that you won’t believe. And, although he can cook and teach almost anything, he has a great love for and has done much research on foods from the Deep South. He’ll discuss how to apply essential culinary skills as he teaches you to prepare the interesting southern-style regional dishes he knows and loves so well.
He’ll “share the love” as he teaches us some soulful classics starting with a Southern Pimento Cheese Dip with Grilled Flatbread, Fried Tomato & Crabmeat Tower, Shrimp & Smoked Cheese Grits and end with a down-home Banana Foster Bread Pudding dessert! So good you’ll wanna slap your Mama! (Don’t do that.)
As an extra special treat, Chef will teach a true southern staple (and one of Chef’s favorites!) – Comeback Sauce. The name comes from the tradition in Mississippi that any time you leave a place, people don't say "goodbye" or "see you later," they say "Y'all come back." This tasty sauce is definitely a good way to seal the deal. It’s so good. Don’t miss this fabulous southern cooking class with recipes that you’ll use over, and over, again.
