Description:

We are excited to partner with the Fine Arts Theatre Group once again to offer this special foodie event of an exclusive showing of Director Eric Besnard’s mouth-watering new historical comedy entitled 'Dèlicieux'.

Joining the ranks of foodie films such as Big Night, Chocolatand Babette’s Feast, this movie is a joyous depiction of the preparation and love of fine cuisine.

Set in France, 1789, just before the Revolution, gastronomy is strictly the domain of the aristocrats, whose prestige is entirely dependent on the quality and reputation of its table.  So when a gifted chef dares to serve an unapproved dish of his own creation, repercussions are brutal. Retreating to a regional inn only visited by infrequent travelers, he swears off his passion, only to be confronted by a mysterious woman who offers to become his apprentice, setting the stage for a wildly enjoyable tale of reignited passion, mentorship and revenge…as well as the birth of France’s very first restaurant.

We’ll begin at The Culinary Center of Kansas City for a pre-show tasting event where we will enjoy “small plates” inspired by the movie.  We’ll certainly taste Truffled Potatoes (and you’ll discover why this is a must!), and we’ll explore the wild flavors of “champignon,” carrot, mint and beet root and learn how to work with puff pastry wellington-style. Mousse is on the menu as well but we regret to inform you that there will be no Swan Stew.  Why? Well, you’ll find out.  Here’s what we do promise you, though…lots of butter!

You’ll receive recipes for all dishes prepared as well. We’ll also hear from Fine Arts Theatre Owner Brian Mossman who will prepare you for the film. A must-attend event for so many reasons, but especially by those who love food and cooking.
