Join us for a special trip down memory lane as Andrea Broomfield, author of her newly released book ‘Iconic Restaurants of Kansas City’ and Executive Chef Jesse Vega team up to explore some of Kansas City’s most beloved restaurants and their most popular dishes, some of which you thought were gone forever. 

Generations of families and restaurateurs have loyally turned out the delectable foods that made Kansas City the food destination that it is. The city’s beloved Savoy Grillwas not only one of Harry S Truman’s favorite haunts but also the restaurant where many Kansas Citians remember eating their first lobster dinner. “Amazin’ “Grace” Harris’s tiny KCK H & MBarbecue kept alive Kansas City’s “Paris of the Plains” reputation—for those in the know.

Author and native Andrea Broomfield has created a delicious culinary journey to discover the roots of Kansas City’s favorite restaurants. Tonight, we will be bringing some of their recipes to life with the able culinary expert and longtime chef instructor Exec Chef Jesse Vega.  Chef is an engaging, talented instructor and culinary professional who always “brings it” all to the table… passion, humor, and delicious, flavorful food. Both Chef and Andrea are passionate about local culinary history and eager to share their talents and interesting stories in this class.

Chef Jesse will dazzle you with his masterful culinary skills as he teaches a tasting menu that will showcase from these iconic restaurants such as Strawberry Pecan Spinach Salad, Farfalle Pasta with Shrimp & Scallops and Gorgonzola Sauce, Pesto Pizza, and a Tartufo with Kahlua Chocolate Sauce. Come to the class to learn how he designed this menu.  As Chef prepares the dishes, Andrea will share interesting details and history of the iconic KC restaurants where each were born.
