Junior Chefs (9-14) Pastry Arts Workshop: Bake The World A Better Place!

Class Description: 

Today, junior chefs (ages 9-14) heat up our kitchen as we explore the wonderful world of baking as they learn to make, bake & decorate cookies, cupcakes and more.

In this interactive 4-hour class, they’ll put on an apron and work alongside instructor and experienced baker Tracy Blizman to discover important tools, tricks and tips that will help you bake successfully at home every time! We’ll have tons of fun and probably be covered in flour by the time you leave, but that’s part of what makes baking so much FUN!  It’s non-stop, hands-on action as we learn proper measuring techniques, how to follow a recipe for success, mixing, stirring, and more as we get things started by whipping up fantabulous cupcakes.

While the cupcakes are baking and cooling, Tracy will show you how to use fondant to create sweet spring cupcake designs. They’ll also earn to make a batch of sugar cookie dough, plus how to roll it out and cut the dough into fun shapes. She’ll also instruct how to make a batch of frosting and teaching decorating techniques like coloring, and more.  And, as if that’s not enough sweet goodness, Tracy will also teach her yummy recipe for Oatmeal Drop Cookies, and more.

You’ll taste AND take home your creations to share (that is, IF they make it home!). NOTE: Students should bring a sack lunch to class.

• For kids ages 9-18attending this class, we require A Waiver signed by parent/legal guardian prior to admittance to this class:  [Click here to download the Waiver]   Note that the Waiver requires that you provide  (1) a phone number where you can be reached during the class if necessary and (2) name(s) of any additional people who are authorized to pick up the child after class.  We encourage you to print off a copy of this Waiver, sign it and either 1) scan and email it to alyson@kcculinary.com or 2) bring it to class with your student.  Without an appropriately signed Waiver your child will not be allowed to attend class.  We are sorry but we cannot make any exceptions to this rule.  Also note that If someone other than the parent signs a Waiver, they will need a legal document to be presented that shows without question that they have the legal authority to sign a Waiver on behalf of your child at that time.
  
  
• Only registered students allowed in the classroom during class.  While we love those parents/grand-parents, aunts & uncles, they will not be allowed to attend ‘just to watch their child’ without registering for the class.  You are welcome to enjoy our Kitchen Shop Experience while your child, age 9 and up, is attending.
